News from 2002 Annual General Meeting (AGM)

Thursday March 28th - Kirkintilloch Miners Welfare Club

An enjoyable and very constructive meeting, thanks to all who attended.  Full minutes will follow soon but main points to note were as follows -

The executive committee officers all gave their reports on their areas of responsibility.  The clear picture was of another successful year with more progress and achievements.  Highlights include our response to the SERAD Green Paper, active participation in various committees and fishery trusts (especially the River Forth), a successful Scottish Junior Open and major progress on the Forth & Clyde Canal

The majority of the executive committee wished to remain in post.  Paul Gould resigned from the non-executive role of Fish Recorder and Alastair McPhee will take over and be responsible for the Scottish Record Fish List.  A new Tench record of 7lb 8oz was ratified and full details will be reported here soon.

Some changes were made to the constitution-

Individual Membership - the voting rights of Individual members was amended; basically all those who join on an Individual basis will be entitled to one collective vote (equivalent to a club) at AGM and EGM meetings.  The Individual Membership Fee was set at £5.

Corporate Membership - this new category of membership was established for commercial organisations with links to coarse angling in Scotland. They will have no voting rights at SFCA meetings.  The value of the fee and the exact nature of the benefits will be discussed soon by the Executive Committee.

Vice Chairman - this new executive committee post was created and will come into effect with an election at the 2003 AGM.  In the meantime the executive committee will consider co-opting a person to take on the role in a temporary capacity until then.

An amended constitution and further details of these changes will be published on this website soon.

END
