Report an issue on the canal

Over the past six months we have received an increasing number of emails/messages regarding issues on the Lowland Canal Network.  These have ranged from fallen or overgrown vegetation blocking towpaths, Invasive Non-native plants, fly tipping, debris such as shopping trolleys, traffic cones and bicycles in the canal, lack of access to the water due to overgrown banksides, excessive weed, to illegal netting and trapping of fish, set lines and dangerous and anti-social behavior from e-scooters, bikes and motorbikes being ridden a high speed on the towpath.

While we still want members to continue to report these issues to us so that we have better intelligence about these things and are able to raise them with Scottish Canals, the police and other key stakeholders, we encourage individuals to also report them to the relevant body.  To assist with this, members can find details of who to report things to on the Scottish Canals’ website at – https://www.scottishcanals.co.uk/boating/canal-travel/report-an-issue-on-the-canal or report them direct to the local waterway office via our contact us page – https://www.scottishcanals.co.uk/contact-us
