Barony College - SFCA Centre of Excellence
Don Paterson Re: Status of Barony College as a SFCA Centre of Excellence It is with great pleasure that I write to you today to confirm that the Scottish Federation for Coarse Angling has approved Barony College as its first Centre of Excellence for Coarse fishing in Scotland. I am in no doubt that this partnership will prove extremely beneficial for everyone involved and provide huge dividends in the promotion of our sport. Through the schools programs being run by yourselves and the Federation’s coaching provider, PAA(Scotland), we will provide the opportunity for children to learn about coarse fishing and environmental issues both in the classroom and on the bank. The partnership will also help to deliver more qualified coaches and coach assistants to support our programs and promote opportunities to gain qualifications and take up careers in the fishery management and aquaculture industries. I know that our vice Chairman and Director of the PAA (Scotland), Martin Mitchell, is working very closely with you on initiatives in your area and we are more than happy for you to continue to use him as your direct point of contact with the Federation. Martin will undoubtedly keep us up to date on developments but should you feel that I or anyone else on our committee could be of assistance please don’t hesitate to contact me. I will undoubtedly be visiting, or indeed assisting with, some of the PAA (Scotland) projects in the coming year and hopefully we will have the opportunity to meet again then.
