S.F.C.A. - Scottish League Rules - amended 11/4/2000

Teams

  1. A team will consist of up to 10 anglers, all of whom must be registered members of the club they represent.
  2. No more than 4 from that 10 can fish in any one match.
  3. Having fished for a given club, no angler can transfer to another club during the league season concerned..
  4. The names of the 4 ‘core’ team members must be provided to the Match secretary prior to the first match.  If ‘core’ names are not specifically provided then the anglers representing the team at the first match will become ‘core’ by default.  Once they have fished for their allotted team ‘Core’ team members can not fish for any other team.

Names of ‘reserves’ can also be advised to the Match Secretary. Reserves are allowed fish for more than one team within their own club. New anglers not previously assigned can join and fish for a club as a core team member or as a named reserve.

The principle of this rule is to assist clubs with more than 1 team but limited numbers of members (ie. 9 anglers to support 2 teams). Approval of the use of reserves in this way is at the discretion of the Match Secretary and abuse of the system will not be allowed.

League Divisions

  1. The Summer League will have one division.

League Organisation

  1. S.F.C.A. Competition Rules apply.
  2. There will be an entry fee per team for the series which must be in the hands of the Treasurer by the specified date. No entries will be accepted after this date except in exceptional circumstances.
  3. The league will be run on a section points basis, the winning team being that with the highest total section points at the end of the 6 match series.

Match Organisation

  1. Each match will have a duration of 5 hours, the draw commencing at 8:30 am.
  2. The Match Secretary will issue 6 team sheets to each league team at the beginning of the league allowing each team to arrive on the morning with a fully completed sheet, thereby speeding up the pre-draw process.
  3. Match organisers are to be at the venue at 8:00 am on the morning of the match. Any teams which have not submitted a team sheet and pools money before 8:30 will have to wait until all other teams have drawn before they can submit their team sheet and pools money, then draw. Any team who does not submit their team sheet and pools money immediately after all other teams have drawn, will have their peg drawn for them by the match organisers and the will not be able to enter the pools. Matches will start at 10:30 am at the latest
  4. The Match Secretary (or his nominated representative) is responsible for all aspects of the organisation of the match.
  5. Each League match will be weighed in using three or more sets of scales. Each League match section must be weighed in using only one set of scales. Rules for weighing-in will be issued with each set of scales.
  6. There will be 5 sections in each match, 4 team sections and 1 ‘reserve’ section. The number of pegs in each team section being equal to the number of teams which have entered the league. The number of pegs in the reserve section depends on demand and is at the discretion of the match organiser.
  7. Teams that do not turn up for a league match will be banned for the remainder of the series except if they originate from H.M. Forces.
  8. After each team captain has drawn his teams peg number, each team member will draw for the section in which he will fish.
  9. Each League team will have 1 vote when league match business requires a minor decision to be made 'on the bank'.  Serious matters are to be referred to the match committee.

Team Points Scoring

  1. The winner of each section, based on weight, will receive points equal to the number of teams in the league plus 2. The angler with the second highest weight , will receive 1 point less and so on. Therefore, assuming each angler weighs-in , the angler with the lowest weight will receive 3 points.
  2. The points scored by all of the 4 team members will be added together and the total carried forward to the league table. The winning team will have the highest points total. In the event of a tie on points the total weights of all 4 team members will be added to decide the winner. If there is still a tie the pools money will be shared equally.
  3. Any angler fishing in a section but not weighing-in will receive 1 point.
  4. Nil points will be awarded when a team is not represented in a section.
  5. League team positions and full results will be issued after every match and will be available before the subsequent match.

Individual

  1. The overall individual award will be based on total section points, all 6 results to count.
  2. In the event of a tie on points, the total aggregate over the same 6 matches will decide the individual winner.

Knock-out Trophy

  1. Within the 6 match series, a team knock-out competition will be organised by the match secretary. The complete draw will be made in committee and will ensure that the final coincides with the last league match.
  2. The winner of each tie shall be decided as for the league match winning team. In the event of a tie on weight or if both teams fail to catch, the replay or decider will be at the next match, except in the Final or Divisional Final, where a replay will be arranged on a separate date.

League Pools

  1. In all federation matches, the number of places paid out will be as follows -
Teams - the Top 2 teams will be paid unless there are only two teams in the pool when only one shall then be paid.
Individuals - the top 4 places will always be paid.
Section - the top 2 places will always be paid.
