Scottish Individual Winter League Rules

Entry

1. The league is for individuals only, not teams, and entry is open to all (i.e., Scottish residents, non-residents, juniors, seniors, S.F.C.A. club members and non-members)

2. The league series entry fee is £5. 100% of the entry fee will go to overall prize money. The top three final individual places will be paid cash prizes. The exact amounts of the final payouts will depend on the number of entrants and will be calculated and published after the first match.

3. Each entrant must register their name and pay the entry fee on the morning of the first match, before the draw.

League Organisation

  1. There will be 6 matches in the series held at fortnightly intervals.
  2. Venues will be made known via S.F.C.A. Match Secretary and specialist coarse angling shops as normal for S.F.C.A. matches, at the latest on the Monday immediately before the match day.

Match Organisation

  1. The Match Secretary (or his nominated representative) is responsible for all aspects of the organisation of the match.
  2. Each competitor must register with the match organiser on the morning of each match before 9:00am. This will allow the organiser to establish exact numbers and decide the number of pegs/sections required before the draw.
  3. The draw for each match will take place at 9:00am.
  4. Each match will be of 5 hours duration. The start time of the match will be announced at the draw.
  5. A set of scales will be assigned to a nominated individual in each section. Each section must be weighed in using only one set of scales.

Fishing Rules

11. The standard S.F.C.A. Competition Rules apply.

Points Scoring

12. The league point system will mainly be based on section points. There will be eight pegs in each section. The winner of each section (based on weight) will be awarded 10 points, second place 9 points and so on. A blank will be awarded one point and no points will be awarded if an entrant does not compete.

13. Additional 'bonus' points will be awarded to the overall top 5 individuals in each match, i.e. 5 points for first place down to 1 point for fifth.

14. The best 5 from 6 match scores will count to each angler's final series total.

15. In the event of a tie on points, the total aggregate weight over the same 5 matches will decide the final individual placings.

Pools

16. All pools are optional. The principle of the pools will be similar to Summer League. There will be a £3 section pool and the top 2 in each section will be paid out. There will be a £3 Individual pool and the top 3 will be paid out. There will be a £4 'Super' individual pool, which will pay out 2 places if the pool is over £50, 1 place if under £50.

Trophies

17. There is an annual individual winner's trophy that must be returned before the start of the next Winter League series to the S.F.C.A. match secretary. There are keepsake trophies for 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the series.

18. The standard S.F.C.A. match levy of 50p per person per match will apply. This is used to pay for trophies, stationery and maintenance of scales.
