FUTURE OF THE SFCA LEAGUE
- Update from Chris Paton, International Team Manager
My updated plan is to leave things as they are
for this current season and then Ewan Weed, Gus Brindle and myself will consult
throughout the season both with anglers fishing the league, member clubs and
importantly anglers not fishing the league to gather their feedback on how we
change things going forward.
This consulatation will take the form of
attending various club meetings but also group discussions at Fed matches. We
will then put together a joint proposal at the end of the season that should
have total support from all clubs and anglers for the start of next year. This
would centre around the formation of the Scottish league whether individual or
team but also rules around bait, pole limits etc and importantly fitting in with
our obligations to SportScotland.
Hopefully you will all agree with giving more
time to something that could fundamentally change match fishing in Scotland. I
also think with the SFCA League matches not starting until July this allows us
time to have a discussion together as a group of match anglers as we have
probably not been together as a group since the end of the league last season.
In the interim please encourage as many people to enter this years league. With
the deliberate late start it doesn't clash with any other leagues and should see
much better fishing. It would be great if we could be having a discussion about
making the league better as opposed to try to fix something broken at the end of
this season.
Tight lines
