2002 Summer League Match 1

Sunday 20th May 2002 - River Endrick, Mains Farm, Near Drymen

Inividual 1 2 3 Team Winners Monklands 'B'
2nd Davie Corcoran, 1st Ewan Weed, 3rd Stephen McCaveny Team Winners Monklands 'B'

Though the river was in patchy form it still provided some big weights in the opening league match of the 2002 campaign.

Ewan Weed of Monklands "B" took top spot with 17.200Kg (37lb 15oz) of mainly roach on pole and waggler from permanent peg 8.  Two pegs upstream Monklands "B" captain Davie Corcoran caught most of his 15.650Kg on waggler for second place while Stephen McCaveny continued his great form with a good performance to sneak out 12.610Kg on the long pole from a more difficult area.

Team wise Monklands "B" (Davie Corcoran, George Glen, Ronnie MacLeod and Rab Crossan) had 33 points to pip Monklands "C" by 2 points.  They will feel happier though with the early 6 point lead established over rivals and reigning champions Monklands "A" who suffered from a poor team draw.

The golden peg pool now stands at £405 and 4 golden pegs were drawn without a result.  The incentive of the big prize continues.
