2001 Summer League Match 6Sunday 23rd September - River Clyde, Swanston St & Glasgow Green
As in most of the other matches in the series, Monklands A dominated the 6th and last SFCA Summer League match to wrap up the team title by 34 points, one of the biggest winning margins ever. One section first and 3 seconds gave them a clear win on the day with 49 points, 6 points clear of JB Dick Clegg. Monklands A (Stephen McCaveny, Rab Crossan, Dave MacAulay & Ian Whitson) also took the team knock-out trophy beating Postal A in the final. Gary McKay briefly interrupted the Monklands A party by beating Ian Whitson into second place with an excellent 4.880 kg of dace and roach from a middle peg on Glasgow Green. The river fished pretty well but Glasgow Green produced the big weights including Ian 2nd with 4.500 kg and Sean McGurgan (JB Dick Clegg) on 4.230 kg. 'Mr Consistent', Dave MacAulay took the individual league title with his 6th consecutive section 2nd place. 150 tiny roach made up his catch of 1.280 kg from the top end peg at Swanston St, a great effort worthy of a league title which he wins for the second time in three years. Ewan Weed struggled in a poor area which left him just adrift overall of Ian Whitson who leapfrogged him into 2nd place in the Individual League Table. After a hard league season all that's left is to thank all of those who have worked so hard to run the matches so smoothly, including Match secretary Chris Paton and those pegging sections, but especially Mike Weed for his professionalism and organisation skills.
