The SFCA Summer League got off to a good start in a challenging but fair match on Forrestburn Reservoir with the average weight per angler being just over a pound. Late May is always a difficult time of year in Scotland and the Roach that had shown in the lead up to the match faded away leaving small Perch as the target for most anglers.
Barry Morgan (Monklands C) was one of the few to make a weight of Roach to win with 1.650 Kg, including a number of 4oz fish on the long pole in C section on the East Dam.
Rab Crossan (Monklands A) produced the performance of the day by taking 1.630 Kg of small perch on the Motorway Bank, mainly very close in at 4 metres.
Sean McGurgan (J.B. Dick Clegg) had A section on the North Dam won early on with a string of decent Roach to finish with 1.500 for 3rd place.
The team event was close all round, with only one blank. Monklands A pipped clubmates Monklands C by just one point with 47 to 46 and the rest of the field was relatively tight.
