Scottish International Stephen McCaveny wasn't keen on his peg draw above the blue fence at Swanston St. on the River Clyde. The peg is 21ft deep and rarely used. But on on a disappointing day only deep pegs produced and Stephen worked away on the long pole at 13m to piece together 2.040 kg of mainly Roach with some Dace.
Stephen's catch alone was enough to win the Pairs Championships for his partner Karl Altdorfer. Karl chipped in with 340g from peg 24 on Swanston St. to help their winning total to 2.380 kg.
The peg to peg battle between Chris Paton and John Callaghan went down to the wire with John edging out Chris for 2nd Individual place by one fish. Chris took third Individual place with 1.470 kg.
4th placed Dean Irving and his partner Tony Ball just pipped John Callaghan and Grant Clark for 2nd place in the pairs by 1.750 kg to 1.700kg.
