The Scottish International team has just landed a three-year sponsorship deal
worth a four-figure sum per year with English-based firm Bait Company UK (BCUK).
BCUK Team Scotland will benefit from a 'significant cash contribution' as
well as clothing and BCUK products, including pellets and groundbait. The
Louth, Lincolnshire, company behind the Natural Born Killers brand are best
known for their carp baits and ingredients, but they also have a range of
products suitable for commercial match fishing, under the Active- 8 range
designed by Jamie Masson.
The deal will provide the Scotland squad with more opportunities to
practice for it's three big events - the Celtic Cup, the Six Nations and
the World Championships (in Portugal in 2006).
Team Manager Chris Paton described the deal as 'fantastic news'
enabling the team to build on the success of winning the Celtic Cup and
finishing 8th in the 2004 World Championships in Belgium. He said,
' BCUK is very much a young, fast growing brand, and the Scotland team
has had much improved success and is on a growth curve, so it will be
good for us to be associated with each other.'
Another connection between the two is Scottish International Jamie
Masson, who fishes for Maver Barnsley and who joined the Scotland squad in
2005. 'Bringing Jamie in has helped the team because of his class'
said Chris. 'He is a good addition to the squad.'
