2005 6 Nations International in Scotland -
Magiscroft Fishery,  Sat & Sun 13/14 August 2005

6000 Spectators at the 2003 6 Nations Championships in Belgium
Magiscroft Fishery Main Loch has been selected by Scotland Team Manager Chris Paton as the venue for the 2005 6 Nations International Championships.   Chris said - 'The fishing on the Main Loch is getting better and better and is the best choice to cope with a big International.  With it's excellent facilities and infrastructure, Magiscroft is the right place to host such a prestigious event'.

Teams of 6 from France, Belgium, Ireland, Wales, England and Scotland will contest the 2 day event and the competitors are certain to include a number of World Champion anglers.  With up to 3 practice days before the event, and an official reception after, the visiting teams with their management and supporters are likely to spend up to 6 days as our guests in Scotland.

Ronnie MacLeod said - 'This is a great honour and we are really looking forward to it.  It was always our intention when creating Magiscroft that we would host the biggest and best angling competitions.  We have worked hard to make Magiscroft suitable for such special occasions and we will continue to work hard in preparations for our visitors next year'.

Naming the venue well in advance will enable the SFCA and Magiscroft to build up support and make the extensive arrangements for the event.  Accommodation, transport, catering, bait & tackle supplies, trophies, media facilities, publicity, spectator facilities, stewarding, closing presentation and official reception etc. ; all need to be funded and organised to match the high standard set by previous 6 Nations events, especially after the excellent event last year in Belgium.

Chris added - 'This is a great opportunity to show Scotland in a positive light and to develop the sport in our own country too.  We are sure we can impress with our special Scottish hospitality and the International publicity will help attract more angling visitors to Scotland in future.  A win for Scotland will be the icing on the cake!'
