Tackle for commercial fisheries

There are at present very few commercial coarse fisheries in Scotland but the number is slowly growing. These venues are artificially stocked and professionally managed are thus the ideal place for a beginner to learn to fish.

Most also have a small shop on site where the newcomer can obtain advice, bait and suitable items of terminal tackle. Any of the main items of tackle and methods suggested for rivers, canals or natural lochs would be suitable for fishing a commercial fishery although elastic strength, and hook to nylon strength and sizes, may need to be stepped up depending on the size and type of fish stocked in the venue.

If you intend to travel to a commercial fishery to learn to fish I would suggest phoning the fishery first to get information on the best time to go when the staff will be able to provide you with assistance to get started.
