SFCA Coach Selection - Nominations InvitedLetter to SFCA clubs from Ken Armstrong, SFCA Coaching Development Officer24th Feb 2001 Dear club secretary, I would like to inform you of the development of the coaching policy and the selection of potential coaches. As you may be aware the SFCA have been producing a youth coaching policy over the last year. The policy is now in its final stages of completion, there are only a few points to be ironed out in regards to the child protection act, which is now in force. The Coaching Development Committee would like to invite any members of your club who would like to be considered for a coaching course. You should also be advised that the courses will be funded and that no volunteer will be out of pocket by attending the course. The potential coaches will be required to go through a thorough background check in conjunction with the Scottish Criminal Records Office (SCRO) checks. All those who do or will have sole charge of children or vulnerable adults require this check. The checks at present attract a charge of £10 per check. It would be the intention that the club or individuals volunteering potential coaches would cover the check fees. However at a later stage these fees may be free, we shall have to wait and see what the Scottish Executive decides in July 01. Nominations for volunteers are requested to be given to the Coaching Development Officer on or before the SFCA AGM on the 29th March 01. If there are any questions about the nomination procedure or any other issues that may be in question as to the out come of the checks please do not hesitate to contact me -
Yours truly, Kenneth Armstrong |
