Scottish Junior Round Robin - Competition Rules

The Scottish junior round robin, has been agreed to be held each year. The format of the round robin matches will be in the form of an individual league. Details of how and where the matches will be held are below: -

Individual league

The individual league will be run on the same format as the adult league, where each competitor will receive points for their overall final position in the match. The overall position will be determined by weight of fish caught. Each series of matches comprising of four matches held on a Saturday.

Points awarded

The points awarded being the total number of competitors plus 2 if they catch i.e. if there are 10 competitors in the match then first place will be 12 points and second 11points down to the last place. If there are any competitors who do not catch they will receive 1 point for fishing the match.

Overall winner

The overall winner of the round robin will be the competitor who at the end of the series of matches has the most points. It is therefore advantageous for all competitors to fish as many of the matches as possible.

Venue locations

Those clubs entering competitors will choose the venues. In this the first year the clubs currently represented are: - Central CAC, Angus Dragons CAC and South Queensferry CAC. It was decided that each club would choose a venue and the fourth venue being a neutral venue agreed by all clubs represented. If in the future there were four clubs then the fourth venue would be the choice of the fourth club. However if there were more than four clubs represented then the club who did not get a choice of venue would have the first choice the following year.

Prizes

It is anticipated that there will be prizes or trophies for the top three final places in the league.

Entry

All those competitors entering the junior round robin matches must be under 18 years old on the day of the first match. Any entrant who is over 18 on the day of the first match will not be allowed to enter.

There is no lower age limit, but the requirement that all competitors must be able to fish totally unaided. This will ensure a fair and even competition. No competitor will be allowed any assistance in tackling up, fishing or landing.

There will be officials from the various clubs represented at the matches and any competitor receiving assistance of any kind, unless of an emergency nature, will be disqualified from the league for that series.

Rules

The rules used will be those used by the Scottish Federation for Coarse Angling in their matches. Copies of the rules can be obtained if required.
