SCOTTISH JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP
It was announced that the Championship would be held at Deans Res.
Livingston, with thanks to the committee of West Lothian Coarse Anglers. After
some discussion with Alan and David of the committee it was agreed that the SFCA
could hold the SFCA Scottish Junior Championships on the venue each year until
such time as the competition outgrows the venue.
There was one stipulation, which will not cause any difficulties, that being
that any carp caught throughout the match will be weighed and returned
immediately, no carp will be permitted in keepnets, a note of the weight will be
taken and added to that competitors` final weight.
Please be aware that there are double figure carp in the venue.
The match will be held at Deans Res. Livingston on the 4th August
01, the draw will be at 09.00am with the all in at 10.30am. The match will last
for 4 hrs with a trophy for the overall winner who will be the Scottish junior
champion, keepsakes will be given to 1st, 2nd and 3rd
in each of the age groups the match. Entry to the event will be open to all
juniors between the ages of 12 and 18. The two groups will be 12 – 14 yrs and
15 – 18 yrs.
This year the competitors will be allowed assistance in netting (not Playing)
of larger species and if they get into difficulty ie. unhooking, tangles,
setting up, etc.
It is again intended to gain sponsorship for the event through various tackle
shops and companies within Scotland. With the intention of having bait and
giveaways for all those attending the match.
We will be publicising the match in local and national press, as well as in
tackle shops around the country.
COACHING
At the moment the NFA are not running any courses, also to date the SFCA have
not received any nominations for those courses. If there is not a need for
coaches at this moment in time, the intention is to wait until:
- There is a need for coaches.
- The NFA start to run courses again.
- There are nominations for courses.
If there are some the SFCA Development Committee may look at sending those
people on the PAA course.
