About Us

The SFCA is the Scottish Governing Body for the sport of Coarse Angling. It was established in the early 1970’s and is committed to the protection of coarse fish stocks in Scotland, and providing equal opportunity for all to get involved and enjoy the sport of coarse angling in a safe and responsible way.

We run programmes and courses to increase the number of anglers fishing for fun, run competitions and provide training to increase the number of UKCC coaches required for help individuals to develop within the sport.

We engage with stakeholders from across the broad spectrum of the angling sector on issues affecting coarse angling. Key stakeholders include;

  • Scottish Government
  • Scottish Natural Heritage
  • Scottish Environmental Protection Agency
  • Local Councils
  • Angling Development Board of Scotland
  • Educational Bodies
  • Fisheries’ Boards and Trust
  • the Fishing Tackle trade
