Ken ARMSTRONG
“We were saddened to hear recently of the passing of Ken Armstrong, former SFCA Coaching and Development Officer.
Ken was passionate about the future of the sport in Scotland and took on this post when it was first created, and building it from scratch into a key role over the course of the early “naughties”. Among other things he put in a great deal of time and effort devising and personally delivering coaching programmes for young coarse anglers. He also played a central part in organising Scottish youth competitive events, and was a vital figure in our liaison with Sportscotland and British Waterways. However his most important legacy lies in the extent to which he set the foundations for the professional model of coaching which characterises our current approach – among other things by developing our first formal Child Protection Policy and CRB checking (now Disclosure Scotland) arrangements.
Ken will be sadly missed by all those who knew him in the Scottish coarse angling fraternity, and we wish his family sincere condolences at this unhappy time.”
