WILD FISHERIES REFORM CONSULTATION – FINAL CHANCE TO RESPOND

On 8th February the Scottish Government published a consultation paper proposing major changes to Scottish freshwater fisheries legislation and management arrangements. You can read the full consultation document at https://consult.scotland.gov.uk/wild-fisheries-reform-team/draft-wild-fisheries-strategy.  The consultation ends on Monday 2nd May.
SFCA welcomes the great majority of what has been proposed in the consultation paper. It can pave the way for changes that will bring real benefits for coarse fish and coarse anglers. We posted a detailed draft reply for comment shortly after the consultation commenced and have now collected views from coarse anglers to enable us to compile a final response, which was submitted to the Scottish Government today. You can find the text by clicking the link below:

SFCA Response to WFR Consultation (Final)

I can’t overstate the importance of this exercise for Scottish coarse angling. Please take the time to read our response and, if you or your club have not already replied to the consultation, consider sending comments by email to wildfisheriesreform@gov.scot, even if it’s only to say that you are familiar with the SFCA position and agree with our submission. Your support can still make a difference.

Many thanks

Ron Woods
Policy Officer
