Publication of Wild Fisheries Reform – Consultation & Response
At the end of May Environment Minister, Aileen McLeod, published a paper which sets out the Government’s response to the independent Wild Fisheries Review and seeks views on a number of broad policy options for a new management system. The Consultation ends on 7th August 2015.
Please find below a link to the news release, which provides further information:

The consultation paper, along with further information on wild fisheries reform can be found on the Scottish Government website at:

Please take a bit of time to read it and the question set provided. The SFCA Executive Committee have been working on a response to the consultation on behalf of Scottish Coarse Angling which can be read at the link below:

We would welcome your throughts on both the proposed paper and if you think that we have missed anything from our response. Comments should be emailed to policyofficer@sfca.co.uk and ron.woods@ntlworld.com.
Finally, the Forth District Salmon Fishery Board has (in conjunction with Trust) been looking at options to engage with, and get others engaged in, the consultation. Due to other pressures, holidays etc it has been decided that there is not enough time to hold more public meetings which inevitable get dominated by a few personalities. They have therefore put together a survey using ‘survey monkey’ with a view of getting some of the questions out there and to try and get some feedback – but mainly to get groups and individuals to submit a response.
The survey is here – https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/FDSFBWildfisheriesreform and it has been done to try to be as All Species as possible. The FDSB would be interested to get views from all anglers and I would encourage you all to take a few minutes and complete it. If you live in, or fish in, the Forth Trust or Board area this is your chance to have your say.
Tight Lines,
Gus Brindle, Chairman.
