MATCH COMMITTEE MEETING – 24TH MARCH 2014
As you know we have been looking for a Match Secretary for this season’s SFCA matches which commence in May as per the recently published Match Calendar.
Unfortunately no-one has as yet come forward.
I am therefore planning to hold a Match Committee meeting to discuss how the coming season will be managed in the absence of a match secretary.
As you are aware Brian Docherty has kindly agreed to collate the match results and Stuart Dalgleish has kindly agreed to assist publishing the results on the website. However, we still will not have anyone to organise the matches and ensure the successful running of the various Championships, Opens and the League.
Therefore, as I have previously alluded to, the alternative will be that I will nominate various clubs/teams to run the matches on an equal basis along with the fisheries. This obviously does not give us the consistency hoped for, particularly for the League, MAOY and League of Champion Events, and we will continue to look for a volunteer to run these matches. The split for the organisational duties for the various matches will be discussed at the meeting and the fixtures list will be updated to show the organising team/club. At this meeting I would also like to get an indication of how many teams will be fishing the league so would be grateful if club representatives could arrive armed with that information.
As previously advised we will also be introducing this year an International Team Levy. This is being done on the recommendation of Sport Scotland to bring our Federation competition funding in line with other Sport Scotland funded sports. The levy of £1 will be for each Federation match and will go towards all the various International Teams.
I propose to hold the meeting at Toby Carvery (at Strathclyde Park) on Monday 24th March at 7.30pm. This will give us time to prep for the season starting early May. Could I ask all clubs and/or teams to let me know who will be attending to represent them. I would like to keep it to one person per team/club.
