SFCA Annual Match Calendar 2014
There are still one or two dates and venues to be confirmed but hopefully this will allow you all to begin planning for the new season. The aspiration is to include all of the dates for the various Fishery and Club leagues as well, to provide a comprehensive match calendar that everyone can use. Can I therefore ask that organisers email dates for fixtures to chairman@sfca.co.uk as soon as possible so that Gus can update the website.
As you are probably aware, David McAuley and Simon Murray stepped down as joint Match Secretary at the end of last season and that Tommy Lauriston will be stepping away from his role of consolidation and publishing results. Brian Docherty has kindly agreed to take on the secretarial role and to consolidate and publish results etc for the coming season, but we still require and individual to assist in the organisation and running of matches on the day. The role is crucial to the successful running of the Federation match calendar and I would therefore ask that all clubs consider nominating an individual. Should you require any details around the role please contact myself. All nominees should contact myself by Fri 10th January.
I am also proposing that starting next season there should be a £1 levy introduced for all Federation matches. This proposal is based on advice from sportscotland that we should be doing more to generate income specifically to support international performance and come into line with other Scottish sports. I would welcome feedback from the clubs and individuals on this proposal.
I am again delighted to announce that the sponsorship of the Federation matches from Daiwa is also due to continue in 2014 and would like to take this opportunity to formally thank them on behalf of all competitive anglers in Scotland.
I would also like to go on record to formally thank David MacAuley, Tommy Lauriston and Simon Murray for their support and hard work over the last few seasons. Due to their work and commitment we have the most successful Match Calendar we’ve probably ever had as a Federation and I look forward to that continuing.
Kind Regards and Tight Lines
