John Baird Jnr and Declyn Cumming become 2012 Scottish Junior Champions

Saturday 25th August 2012 saw the SFCA Scottish Junior National Championships take place at Magiscroft Fisheries near Cumbernauld.  The Championships which are kindly sponsored by Wishaw based tackle giant Daiwa are split into two age groups; 13 and under, and 14 to 18s. Thirty six youngsters turned up from across Scotland to compete with nineteen 14s and overs contesting their match on the Island pond, while seventeen 13s and unders fished their match on the Woodside Pond.

In the older age group it was three Scottish Junior Internationalists, fresh from their success in the Celtic Cup in Ireland, who took the top honours on the Island Pond.

John Baird Jnr weighed an impressive 30lb 8oz on peg 22 for a comfortable win to claim the title as Scottish over 14s Junior Champion to add to his recent title as SFCA Summer League Individual Champion. On the other side of the island things were a lot tighter and it was Peter Dick who managed to hold on to take the runner up position with 12lb 8oz from peg 7, ahead of Scott Laird in 3rd with 11lb 7 oz from peg 10 and  Scott McAuley in 4th with 11lb from peg 5.

In the under 14s on the Woodside it was Declyn Cumming who took the honours with 8lb 8oz from peg 5.

Runner up was Lewis Cameron with 5lb 13oz from peg 11 just ahead of Kyle Bird with 5lb 11oz from peg 4.
